Right of Withdrawal in Online Shopping: Consumer Rights Guide

With the rapid growth of e-commerce, consumer rights in online shopping have become increasingly important. The Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 provides strong protection for consumers.

1. What Is the Right of Withdrawal?

In distance contracts (online shopping), the consumer has the right to withdraw within 14 days of receiving the product, without giving any reason and without paying any penalty.

2. Exceptions

Certain products are excluded: custom-made items, perishable goods, unsealed hygiene products, digital content (if download started).

3. How to Exercise the Right

  1. Send a withdrawal notice within 14 days
  2. Return the product within 10 days
  3. Seller must refund within 14 days

4. Consumer Arbitration Board

The monetary threshold for consumer arbitration boards is updated annually. The amount in force on the application date should be verified through the Ministry of Trade and Official Gazette.
